The Fighting Hannah

To perpetuate the memory of the USS Hancock (CV/CVA‑19) and the thousands of sailors, aviators, and Marines who served aboard her, the most powerful starting point is to anchor her legacy in what made the ship historically significant: she was an Essex‑class aircraft carrier, commissioned in 1944, that fought through the Pacific in WWII, pioneered early jet‑era innovations, and later played a major role in the Vietnam War.
